2008-2016
The Election of Barack Obama brought forth hope and talk of a post-racial society. A hope never expressed in the bathroom stalls, nor realized outside of them. The unfolding reality was a visceral backlash in which old racial stereotypical tropes flourished. A noticeable uptake is “exhibited” in associating our black citizenry, and most all none-white Christians for that matter, as un-American, Muslim terrorists, socialists, primates, sexual threats to “our women”, criminals, ad nauseam… It is this animosity, born of a fear of others, that has fueled and continues to embolden the existential threat that is Trumpism.
